What are you doing in 2021?

No, we don’t want to know if you are going to the World Track and Field Championships in Eugene, what are you doing in Scouting in 2021? Are you thinking “that is so far off, I can’t tell you right now”? Not true. Want an opportunity of a lifetime? How about taking 36 of Oregon Trail’s Scouts to the National Jamboree?

We are looking for a few good men and women!

That’s right! Oregon Trail Council is considering taking a contingent of two troops to the National Jamboree in 2021. Every four years, Oregon Trail Council puts together a Jamboree Contingent. A troop consists of 36 youth and four adult leaders. In 2021 we would like to have a male troop and a female troop as a part of our contingent. We are looking for leaders that would like to be a part of the event and help our youth enjoy an experience of a lifetime.

Besides the Jamboree experience itself, there are other costs that are incurred in preparation for the event. These costs include (but may not be limited to):

  • Airfare to and from the east coast

  • Luggage fees

  • Hotel and security

  • Jamboree training, meetings, and other events

  • Jamboree gear (flags, unit numerals, shirts, backpack, duffle bag, patches)

  • Jamboree event fee

  • Dedicated Scouting professional and support staff to facilitate and assist in a successful Jamboree experience

  • Bus transportation to all tour locations and to and from Jamboree with          dedicated bus drivers

  • A tour team to organize and facilitate all touring aspects

  • A tour of part of America's history including Washington, DC and other historical locations.

To ensure everybody that wants to be involved can do so, we want our leadership selected by this summer. The leadership would help us recruit, have input on the tour, help fund raise, and provide leadership to the youth attendees in preparation for the event and during the trip itself. If you are interested, please fill out the application provided and return it to the Scout Office by June 15th. We will start the interview process on June 18th. Thank you for considering an adult leadership role for the National Jamboree!
