The members of the Oregon Trail Council Heritage Society are a group of men and women who believe in the mission of the Boy Scouts of America and share its ideals and traditions. They have made a commitment to ensure that a quality program is available for future generations of Scouts and Scouters. An individual becomes a member of the council’s Heritage Society after committing an outright gift, a planned gift or a bequest in his or her will to the council’s endowment trust fund. Members of the Heritage Society receive quarterly newsletters, special fellowship, recognition opportunities and activities, and the joy of knowing their support of Scouting will leave a legacy forever.
James E. West Fellowship
Heritage Society members in the James E. West Fellowship are part of a national recognition for those who contribute $1,000 or more in cash or securities to the Oregon Trail Council’s endowment trust fund. Such donations are in addition to, not instead of, the donor’s annual gift to the Friends of Scouting campaign. The council’s James E. West Fellows receive an attractive 8x10 inch personalized certificate in a bound leather folder, a distinctive lapel pin and an embroidered square knot to be worn on the Scout uniform. James E. West Fellows are recognized as Entry level ($1,000), Bronze level ($2,500), Silver level ($5,000), Gold level ($10,000) or Platinum level ($15,000).
Heritage Society members in the Founders Circle are recognized for deferred gifts designated for Oregon Trail Council’s endowment trust fund. These gifts come in the form of charitable bequests (gifts outlined in a Scouter’s will or codicil), charitable trusts (unitrusts, annuity trusts and lead trusts), charitable gift annuities, pooled income fund gifts, and life insurance/retirement plan designations. Members of the Founders Circle are recognized as Legacy level ($0 - $99,999), Bronze level ($100,000 to $249,999), Silver level ($250,000 to $499,999), Gold level ($500,000 to $999,999) and Platinum level ($1,000,000 and above).
